Providers and Models

A Provider is a configured integration through which an Agent uses a family of Models. Register Provider values in defineAgent, then select a Default Model with a qualified id in provider/model form.

The Provider prefix must match a registered Provider. A Model catalog supplies discovery and type hints, but it is not a closed registry and does not prove account entitlement.

Available Provider packages

• OpenAI: official OpenAI API with an API-key Credential.
• Codex: ChatGPT subscription OAuth through an unofficial, best-effort transport.
• @mitome/providers/openai-compatible: a separately identified OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

An OpenAI-compatible Provider requires a unique id and baseUrl; its empty Model catalog deliberately accepts endpoint-native ids:

Do not configure Codex as an OpenAI-compatible base URL. Its authentication and transport contracts are different.
